LIFE over LAW
If you fear arrest, suspension, or expulsion by calling 911, know that LIFE is prioritized over LAW, thanks to the Georgia Good Samaritan and the Georgia 9-1-1 Amnesty legislation.
Students need to understand their school's conduct policy regarding support of these laws. Search your college's Responsible Code of Conduct for its policies.
The Good Samaritan Law protects any person from civil litigation "who in good faith renders emergency care at the scene of an accident or emergency to the victim or victims thereof without making any charge"
The Georgia 9-1-1 Medical Amnesty Law: the caller and the victim cannot be arrested, charged, or prosecuted when 9-1-1 is called at the scene of a suspected drug or alcohol overdose, even if the caller or victim is underage.
